Fitout update - praise God for His provision

Praise God for the way he has provided through the generosity of you, His people.

Because of what you’ve all contributed, we in the Project Team have been able to make a really good plan of how to steward the funds and maximise their use to get our new building ready for ministry.

Just a note, this is the current plan, but if prices are higher or lower than expected, or if extra funds come in, things may change.

What we have funds allocated for:

  • Funds to move our gear and furniture from Berwick St to the new building and get it installed

  • AV & IT services

    • Systems that will support the offices and network requirements to run the AV system

    • A functional audiovisual system in the Auditorium. The AV system will have some compromises to the projection and speakers that can be retrofitted later.

    • A hearing assist system.

  • Basic kitchen fitout. We’ll largely be reusing items from Berwick St, supplemented with additional storage racks and a few new appliances.

  • Cleaning items such as soap and towel dispensers, air fresheners, battery vacuum cleaners, cleaning trolley

  • Furniture

    • Reusing all 186 church chairs from Berwick St, with 214 additional new chairs purchased to reach a total count of 400 chairs in the Auditorium

    • Supplemented by additional chairs for other meeting areas

    • Minimal other soft furniture for cry room, youth lounge, foyer

    • Reusing office furniture from Berwick St to fit out the new offices, with a few new chairs that are required.  

    • New boardroom and small meeting room tables for staff meetings (the large boardroom style table has already been purchased for the bargain price of $102 against a budget of $3025!)

  • Land Development

    • Funds for engineering input and resource consent for the additional carparks outside the main contract

    • New fence for the boundary with the neighbours which is in bad condition and in the wrong place

    • Landscaping and fencing an under-five children’s play area, adult mingling areas, and youth area including a gaga pit

    • Basic planting through the garden beds

  • Signage for the entrances and wayfinding in and around the building

What we don’t currently have funding for:

  • Café tables and chairs for foyer socialising

  • Sufficient chairs for all meeting areas. We’ll need to move furniture around the building for events as needed

  • Enough soft furniture such as couches for the Foyer and the Youth Lounge

  • Full AV/IT capability in the Hall and all meeting rooms. Not all rooms will have the intended AV systems, and we’ll need to rely on moving portable projectors, etc.

  • All the appliances to fully kit out the kitchen. We’ll be missing additional fridge and freezer space, bratt pan, griddle, and kitchen island

  • Dishwashers and mini fridges for the youth, foyer, and kid’s area kitchenettes

  • Fully landscaped social areas outside

  • Fully developed carpark areas

  •  A large sign on the exterior west wall of the auditorium, visible from the motorway.

Praise God for what he has supplied! Our plans suggest that we’ll have what we need to move into the building and start using it for church services, midweek ministry and most events. Over the coming months and years, as funding becomes available, we will be able to finish fitting out the building.
