Fitout
Getting our new home fit for ministry
We are now turning our attention to the next and final stage: fundraising for the fitout of our new church building. This includes everything that turns the structure into a welcoming and functional place for ministry—furniture, kitchen equipment, signage, audio-visual systems, and the spaces that serve our children, youth, and wider community. We put out a booklet across our services that explains a bit more about fitout, which you can find here.
Fitout philosophy
The Property Committee has looked carefully at everything from furniture and kitchen equipment to technology and landscaping. Our goal has been to make wise choices that will serve gospel ministry for many years to come.
Our work has been shaped by three key principles:
Fit for Purpose: ensuring the fitout meets the real needs of Latimer’s Ministries
Mid-price point: Not budget, but also not gold plated
Balance of price, quality & sustainability: equipment and materials that last and are easy to maintain.
Our fitout budget
The fitout has been looked at with significant detail by the Property Committee, and a target is being presented that we think is reasonable to meet the needs of the church.
The target includes the categories as broken down below, but also a “contingency” to allow for price increases, or things that we don’t know.
Total fitout target: $1.82M
Furniture $271,000
Everything from chairs, to soft seating, and dedicated welcome and coffee tables in our foyer. Allowing for people to effectively participate in our ministries in comfort, and create a welcoming space
Signage and Systems $114,000
This category covers the things that often go un-noticed in a building, but would have a significant impact if it wasn’t there. Things like signage both inside and outside the building, and the IT Networking to connect the building.
Kitchen $107,000
The kitchen at the new building is quite big! Fitting it out with the right equipment supports our hospitality and catering ministries, and will help them provide for all of the times we share food together.
Outdoor - parking and plants $204,000
We have twice as much space outside the building as we do inside - which means we are able to host more parking on site. This category also allows for effective landscaping that focuses on accessibility and separating areas through the use of planting
Audio Visual $652,000
One of the most important things that will happen in our building is people hearing and seeing the word of God! For that to happen we need good audio and visual systems across the building. This is a pricey category, but we have done everything we can to bring it down as much as is reasonable
Outdoor - gather and play $105,000
These are outdoor dedicated spaces that encourage fellowship and engagement with the community around us. It includes adult mingling and picnic areas, and dedicated play areas for under 5’s with sports areas for the youth
